Our inoculation-concept is ready – the „prik“-season is now open!

The first hepatitis A + B vaccination we both had tolerated well.The pneumococcal-vaccination hadn´t been a problem, too. Only Bea had a little pain around the injection site for two days.Unfortunately, the seasonal flu vaccination hadn´t done Helle any good. Promtly he had been sickly with cold and cough! :-/The anti-rabies inoculation is perfect for all real girls, the stuff is neon-pink! In spite of its bad name, we had tolerated the first (from three!!) anti-rabies inoculation quite well.

Time to Ride

The two oral vaccinations cholera and typhoid were without any problems, just like the vaccine against Japanese encephalitis.The last vaccination against hepatitis we have tolerated pretty well.Only Bea had in the last two immunizations a slight pain in the lymph nodes under the arm, but that's no surprise at the number of vaccinations, which were processed in our bodies over the last few months ...

First Aid CourseAlthough Helle was not very enthusiastic, nevertheless we have attended a first aid course. Of course, we hope, that we never have to apply the learned knowledge, but we would rather play it safe, after all, at our first stage through Eastern Europe there are several areas for sure where for miles is no doctor or hospital available and there should be at least one master a few basic rules of first aid!Travel pharmacy-dressings/bandagesdisinfectant spray, gauze bandages, spray plaster (you can use this spray also as an alternative for pepper spray :-) ), normal plaster, sterile compresses, clip plaster-drugsdifferent antibiotics (Ofloxiacin, Amoxicillin, Doxiciclin), Malarone as a malaria-stand-by drug, mild and strong pain killers, drops against gastro-intestinal complaints, drug against diarrhea, drug against nausea and vomiting, charcoal tablets, electrolyte powder, Magnesium- and multivitamin effervescent tablets (you can also use it to pep up drinking water :-) ), circulation drops, cough medicine, ear drops, eye drops, iodine ointment, wound- und healing ointment, Voltaren-Gel, drug against allergic reactions, Buscopan (for women :-) )-homeopathic medicinecombination medicine against flue, Belladonna, Arnica, Apis, Arsenicum Album-othersclinical thermometer, sterile scalpel, sterile needles, tick pincerNoteAt the beginning of our journey we had no idea about the health care in the different countries and especially regarding to health issues we would like to play safe, so we decided to carry a very extensive range of drugs with us. In retrospect, we would never again carry so many drugs with us, because you can buy all medicaments you need in the local countries (maybe apart from some outlying areas of Eastern Europe where you hardly find a pharmacy). Especially in Southeast Asia the drugs are very often even cheaper than in Germany.

Addendum to the anti-rabies inoculation: The second of three injections, we have unfortunately not tolerate both as well. Chills, elevated temperature and fatigue were the result!
